The Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (“UMFCCI”) is a national-level non-governmental organization which represents and safeguards the interests of the private business sector. UMFCCI was founded in 1919 under the name of the Burmese Chamber of Commerce, and upgraded as a federation in 1999 in line with the adoption of the market-oriented economic policy by the state. UMFCCI is formed with 16 Regional and State Chambers of Commerce and Industry, 9 Border Trade Chambers of Commerce and Industry, 51 Affiliated National Level Federations and Associations and over 40,000 members. It signed 154 memorandums of understanding with international organizations.
UMFCCI acts as a bridge between the State and the private sector, and represents business interest and views to the Union Government. It participates in the Government’s working committees and seminars. UMFCCI provides opportunities for improving business knowledge and skill. UMFCCI will enable you to open the door to many contacts and interactions that help business grow through our strategic network.
UMFCCI provides various services, such as education services for business and economic fields, provides trade information, business facilitating services, business matching and consultancy services, organizing delegations for participating in trade fairs, exhibitions, workshops, study tours and other services as needed for the promotion of private business sector.
To provide support towards the development of country’s economy, UMFCCI organizes business meetings and establishes business contacts, organizes and supports the participation of local businesses at trade fairs and exhibitions, both international and local. UMFCCI participates in over a hundred international and local trade fairs annually, in order to open up opportunities for Myanmar exporters to meet directly with foreign businesses. Trade Fairs and Exhibitions enable Myanmar products and services to gain access to overseas markets.
As UMFCCI was founded in 1919, it has spent 100 years supporting businesses in Myanmar.
UMFCCI is aware of the issues that affect businesses in Myanmar. It disseminates trade and market information. It provides first-hand insights on Myanmar’s business trends, by providing you with valuable government and industry connections. Our international Trade Inquiry Service helps you to find partners to source your products. UMFCCI issues commercial documents and certificates of origin for goods to be exported.
UMFCCI is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the ASEAN Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ASEAN Business Advisory Council, East Asia Business Council, Great Mekong Sub-region Business Forum, Ayeyarwaddy Chao-Phraya Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS), and works closely with the World Bank, IMF, World Trade Organization and the Asia Development Bank, providing valuable experience of the requirements of international businesses and markets.
